Cristina Foster

Cristina Foster is pursuing a Master’s degree in Vocal Arts and Opera at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Praised as an athletic singer with a rich coloratura sound, Cristina’s recent performances include the Countess Rosina in Le Nozze di Figaro in Thornton’s scenes program, Lucia in Wheaton Conservatory’s production of The Rape of Lucretia, and Lady Angela in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience. She has also performed scenes as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutti. In addition to Opera on Tap, Cristina is an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral Chorus and recently sang with the ensemble in Britten’s Noye’s Fludde under the baton of James Conlon. Ms. Foster was a finalist in several Illinois and Chicago chapter NATS competitions and attended OperaWorks in 2009 where she worked with coaches Ann Baltz, Dan Bridston, Kevin Bylsma, and Lisa Sylvester. Cristina has also performed in master class with soprano Cynthia Hoffman. Cristina is eagerly anticipating a trip to Europe this summer to study at the Oberlin in Italy Program and the Franco American Vocal Academy in France. At the latter, she will be performing the role of Baron Puck in La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein. Ms. Foster’s unique journey as an adoptee from Bogotá, Colombia has given her an appreciation for culture and diversity which she choses to develop through musical studies. As a forever student of music, Cristina’s motto is: “Making change is simply the culmination of pursuing the passion and art that are within you.” She believes that through the power of music we can truly make a difference in our world. Cristina performs annually at Galas in Minneapolis, Minnesota in support of F.A.N.A. the orphanage where she was born.
