Martita Galindo

Colombian-American soprano Martita Galindo is a young and rising talent.
She received her Bachelor of Music from Temple University and a Master
of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Originally from North Potomac, Maryland, Martita is an active performer
in the Bay Area. She was seen as Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi at the San
Francisco Conservatory. Partial roles include The Governess (Turn of the
Screw), Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Rosario (Goyescas), Mrs.Bassett
(Summer and Smoke), Miss Todd (Old Maid and the Thief), Katharina
(Taming of the Shrew), Elisetta (Matrimonio Segreto), Second Lady (Die
Zauberflöte) and Regina (Regina).
Ms.Galindo has also performed with The Opera Theater and Music Festival
of Lucca, The Florence Voice Seminar, Victoria Voice Academy, Rising
Star Opera, the Salzburg Voice Institute, and The West Coast Opera
Workshop here in San Francisco.
While she is no stranger to the operatic stage, Martita has a deep love for
performing in a recital setting. She has given solo recitals in Philadelphia,
Washington D.C. and San Francisco. She has spent many years spreading
the glory of Latin American classical art song in the United States. Most
recently, she made her South American debut in Bogotá, Colombia. She
will be an Artist in Residence at La Universidad del Bosque from 2011-
2012. Aside from giving numerous recitals, she will also be giving several
lectures and masterclasses.
