CAMERON RUSSELL SINGING JAMES BARRY'S ARRANGEMENT OF ALWAYS ON MY MIND AT OPERA ELVIS!

History of OPERAtion Brooklyn (formerly Opera Grows in Brooklyn)

Opera Grows in Brooklyn premiered in March 2009 at Galapagos with the idea of putting Brooklyn on the map as a breeding ground for contemporary operatic work.  The first performance was an immediate success.  Presenters performed to a sold out crowd and have continued to do so at subsequent performances in July and December.  Timeout has called OGB a 'vital series' and Curator Blog called it 'a benefit to the city'.  The series has grown into a quarterly event with engagements at Galapagos scheduled throughout 2010.

Each performance, OOT and AOP present snippets from 3 different operas/ vocal pieces by 3 different living composers.  Featured composers have included Christopher Berg, Christian Mcleer, Ray Lustig, Andrea La Rose, Kamala Sankaram, Bernadette Speach, Stefan Weisman, Matt Schikele, James Barry, Jack Perla, Julia Meinwald and David T. Little.
